Maintaining the correct pH is one of the most important aspects of successful hydroponic gardening. The Hy-Gen® Complete pH Kit provides everything you need to accurately test and adjust the pH of your nutrient solution, helping maximise nutrient availability and promote healthy plant growth. Designed for growers of all experience levels, this complete kit offers a simple, reliable and cost-effective solution for routine pH management.
A stable pH ensures plants can efficiently absorb the nutrients they require. When the pH drifts outside the ideal range, essential elements such as iron, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus can become less available, leading to nutrient deficiencies, slower growth and reduced yields. Most hydroponic plants perform best with a nutrient solution maintained between pH 5.8 and 6.5.
The Hy-Gen® Complete pH Kit makes monitoring your nutrient solution quick and easy. The included concentrated indicator solution requires just one drop to produce an accurate reading, while the easy-to-read calibrated colour chart measures pH to within approximately 0.5 pH units. Once you have determined the pH, simply use the included Hy-Gen® pH Up or Hy-Gen® pH Down solutions to make any necessary adjustments.
The kit includes a durable test tube, a convenient 1mL transfer pipette, 150mL Hy-Gen® pH Up, 150mL Hy-Gen® pH Down, a concentrated indicator solution and a calibrated colour chart, giving you everything required to perform multiple tests and adjustments from one convenient package.
For the most accurate results, check your nutrient solution daily, and always after adding fresh water, nutrients or additives. After mixing your reservoir thoroughly, allow the solution to stabilise for approximately 30–60 minutes before testing. If the pH falls below 5.8 or rises above 6.5, make small adjustments using the included pH Up or pH Down solutions. Mix thoroughly after each adjustment and allow the nutrient solution to stand for 60 minutes before re-testing.
